Barcelona Prepare for September Return to Renovated Spotify Camp Nou
After more than a year away, FC Barcelona are finally preparing to return home. The club’s president, Joan Laporta, recently announced that the first team will play at the Spotify Camp Nou again this September, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing renovation project.
The iconic stadium, which has been under construction since the end of the 2022–23 season, is being completely modernized to enhance the fan experience and maximize commercial income. Laporta shared the exciting news during a meeting with club shareholders, confirming that work is progressing well enough for matches to resume early in the 2025–26 campaign.
“We will return in September,” Laporta told the club’s Senate. “We have already spoken to La Liga so that our first home games can take place then. Returning is very important for the club, both financially and emotionally. Even with a reduced capacity, being back at Camp Nou will help increase revenue.”
The club president also revealed that Barcelona will begin next season with a few away games as workers put the finishing touches on the stadium. The plan is for Barça to play their first three fixtures on the road, allowing construction teams extra time to complete preparations for the grand homecoming.
Fans will also have a sneak preview of the updated stadium during a final preseason friendly against Italian club Como 1907, which will serve as a test event before the competitive action begins.
The complete renovation of Camp Nou will not be fully completed until the summer of 2026, including the installation of a new roof. Once finished, the stadium will hold more than 105,000 spectators, making it the largest football arena in Europe. Laporta assured supporters that the club’s leadership is determined to deliver a world-class stadium for both players and fans.
With this return just months away, anticipation is already building across the city. Supporters are eager to see their team back at the Camp Nou, where so many historic memories have been created—and where even greater achievements will soon follow. September can’t come quickly enough for everyone who loves Barça.
