Tottenham Hotspur have secured the signature of Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United in a high profile £55 million transfer. The 24 year old has signed a six year deal with Spurs, keeping him at the club until 2031.
This move marks one of the first major signings under new Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank. Kudus, who was previously linked to several top European clubs, chose north London as his next destination, reportedly turning down interest from Chelsea and other teams. Spurs had an initial £50 million bid rejected last week but returned with an improved offer of £54.5 million, which was eventually accepted.
Kudus arrived in the Premier League last year from Ajax in a £38 million move and quickly established himself as a standout performer for the Hammers. In just 65 league appearances, he scored 13 goals and provided nine assists, making him the club’s second most productive attacker behind Jarrod Bowen.
Beyond his goal contributions, Kudus has impressed with his ability to take on defenders. He completed 216 of his 411 attempted dribbles over the last two seasons more than any other Premier League player during that span. His ball control, pace, and creativity make him a powerful attacking weapon, whether playing as a winger, midfielder, or forward.
Speaking to the club’s social media, external Kudus said he has “always wanted to play at the highest level.”
He added: “How big the club is, the history and the Champions League as well, so it’s a big moment. I’m very happy and can’t wait to start.”
He also credited Thomas Frank as a major influence behind the transfer, praising the manager’s reputation for developing talent. “From where [Frank] has come from, and seeing the amount of talent he has developed to become great players, it’s a big sign as to why I wanted to work under him as well,” Kudus said.
Tottenham aren’t done yet in the transfer market. Reports indicate that Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White is set to join the club for £60 million following a medical. There is also interest in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who worked under Frank during his time at the west London club.
Kudus is expected to be integrated into the team during pre-season and will likely be a key part of Tottenham’s attacking plans going forward. With his flair, versatility, and hunger to succeed, he could become a pivotal figure in Spurs’ journey under new leadership.
