Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Viktor Gyökeres, bringing an end to their long-standing search for a prolific centre-forward. The Swedish striker joins the Gunners from Sporting Lisbon in a deal reportedly worth £55 million upfront, with performance-based add-ons potentially raising the total to £64 million (€85 million/$85 million).
The 27-year-old forward has signed a five-year contract with the North London club and will immediately link up with his new teammates on their ongoing pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong.
A Proven Goalscorer
Gyökeres arrives at Arsenal with a stellar reputation after a remarkable two-season spell in Portugal. He scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting, leading the club to back-to-back Primeira Liga titles, a domestic cup win, and even a Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City.
His tally of 54 goals last season alone saw him outperform elite names like Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, and Mohamed Salah, cementing his place among Europe’s most dangerous strikers.

Gyökeres began his career at Brommapojkarna in Sweden before moving to Brighton in 2018. Loan spells at St. Pauli, Swansea, and Coventry City helped him grow, and he made a name for himself during his permanent stint with Coventry, where he scored 40 goals and helped them to the Championship play-off final.
Now, with a record of goals and growth behind him, Viktor Gyökeres is set to lead the line at the Emirates in what could be a defining season for Arsenal.
