Leroy Sané Seals Move to Galatasaray After Five-Year Bayern Stint
Germany international Leroy Sané has completed a sensational move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal following the expiry of his Bayern Munich contract.
The 29-year-old winger, who joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2020, was unveiled by Galatasaray after arriving in Istanbul earlier this week. Sané was greeted by a raucous crowd of supporters who had been tracking his flight live, with over a million fans tuning in via the club’s YouTube channel.
Galatasaray, fresh off a dominant league-winning campaign where they finished 11 points clear of rivals Fenerbahce, announced that Sané will officially become part of their squad from July 1. The deal includes an annual guaranteed salary of €9 million, along with a loyalty bonus of €3 million. With bonuses included, his earnings could reportedly rise to €15 million per year—surpassing the renewal terms offered by Bayern.
Speaking after his arrival, Sané expressed excitement about the new chapter in his career. He praised the passion of the fans and the club’s determination to sign him, citing the “total package” as the deciding factor in choosing Galatasaray over extending his stay in Germany.
During his time in Munich, Sané made 220 appearances and scored 61 goals, contributing significantly to the club’s domestic and international success. His honours include four Bundesliga titles, a UEFA Super Cup, a Club World Cup, and two German Supercups.
As he begins this new journey in the Süper Lig, Sané carries with him experience from both the Premier League and Bundesliga, and aims to add more silverware to his collection with the Turkish champions.
