French champions PSG have sold Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.
He will reunite with his ex-Liverpool teammates, Gerrard and Jordan Henderson. This move allows Henderson and Wijnaldum to revive their partnership, which greatly contributed to Liverpool’s success. Transfer fee details are not disclosed.
In 2012, Wijnaldum joined PSG from Liverpool but struggled and went on loan to Roma. He got injured during his loan at Roma and couldn’t secure a spot in PSG under the new manager, Luis Enrique. Gerrard convinced him to join Al-Ettifaq.
Initially, PSV and Ajax were interested in Wijnaldum, but he decided to join the Saudi Pro League, which is renowned for attracting European talent.
Last month, PSG also sold Neymar to Al-Hilal.
